This guy gets it…
This is only the BEST Survivor blog EVER, and I don’t say that lightly.
From the review for last weeks show:
The two teams run the obstacle course. It looks really painful, and there are plenty of shots of pretty girls in awkward poses. But it’s still an obstacle course. These factors perfectly cancel each other out, resulting in a net zero entertainment value. Five minutes of dead air would have been just as good.
Heh…if you enjoy the show you owe it to yourself to read them all.
Lost
I’ve bought into the hype, I’ll admit it. The mysterious little commercials. The scary plane crash and the stuff frightening the folks on the island. So I’ll be dutifully tuning in to ABC tonite at 8pm EST to see the beginning of their new series “Lost“.
Its been getting some good reviews, the cast is attractive, and there’s even a fan site up already, but I still have nagging doubts. Doubts that don’t involve the hobbit that has been cast as one of the main characters.
See the commercials show the plane crash, and you can see the tail of the plane coming clean off while still airborne at at least 10,000 feet. It requires a serious suspension of disbelief to think that anyone would survive such an event, let alone the veritable HOST of characters that inhabit this show.
If they make such a jump of logic in the opening sequence, it doesn’t bode well for the rest of the series.
I hope I’m wrong, because Wednesday night is the dead-zone of television right now.
Survivor Thoughts
They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression…
Travis seems like an idiot. Bob Barker T-Shirt? What?
Eliza…oh my. Oh. My.
John…annoying pretty boy. Mechanical Bull Operator? WTF?
Twila…Irratating “Sue” type…
Rory…bossy much? Not a good attribute right off the bat in this game…
Scout looks like she’s been dragged down 12 miles of bad road…on her face.
Chad…one leg…. wow!
Dolly, a little girl who’s unafraid of fresh pig blood.
Amiabundantly talented and…uh…endowed…
Chris … Not. Long. For. This. Game.
Interesting and complex immunity challenge, with a surprising outcome. I think this season shows a lot of promise!
It’s Back!

Oh yes, it’s back…
Ahhwooooooo!!!! Oh dey low dey low dey low dey lah dey low dey low dey low… (mp3)
Get up to speed on the new cast here and the latest dirt here.
We are soooo ready. (Shut up Kohary.)
Survivor’s back…
CBS announced the contestants for the new season of Survivor yesterday.
I’m particularly intrigued by the survival potential of “barista/model” Ami.
Travis looks to be this season’s “Big Tom“, and Lisa figures to be the next Tina.
The new season kicks off September 16th, and we can’t wait.
TV Heads
Talking Heads delivers just what you KNOW you’ve been waiting for…the opportunity to view and vote for your favorite cable news host.
For my money, the Fox News gals destroy the competition. I mean it’s not even a little bit close.
If I’m playing favorites, I have to go Laurie Dhue. Sorry Greta…
4400
I just finished watching the pilot episode of USA Network’s new show “The 4400“, and I think it has a lot of potential. The parallels between the X-Files and “Taken” are obvious – one of the actors had a leading role in Spielberg’s mini-series.
The plot, from IMDB:
These are the stories of 4400 alien abductees after they are returned to Earth. People dealing with traumatic changes, driven by the mystery of what happened and why. Some of them have been affected in mysterious ways, and some will have certain abilities, both good and bad. The pilot has a ball of light sailing towards Earth. But rather than the expected catastrophic event, thousands of returned abductees are left with no memory of their otherworldly experiences. Each has been gone anywhere from a few months to several decades but hasn’t aged a day.
The production values were pretty high, and they’ve introduced some characters that are easy to care about. One guy has an ability to heal, another has some pretty significant telekinesis talents, and a young girl from the 1930′s apparently has the ability to predict the future. I know it sounds like some superhero fantasy trip, but it really doesn’t play like that. The people being returned have no clue about their powers or what has happened to them, and they are left to discover these things just as the viewer is.
The 4400 have been release from quarantine into the general population, but they are being tracked by a couple of employees from the “Department of Homeland Security” in a style reminiscent of Mulder and Scully. I’ve set a Tivo season-pass to record the series, and I’ll definitely be watching this one. Given the number of “returnees” from a variety of timelines and countries, there are an abundance of potential storylines.
