VP Debate moderator releasing pro-Obama book…
Gwen Ifill’s book “focuses on blacks who are ‘forging a bold new path to political power‘ – Via Drudge
In my opinion debate moderators are an anachronistic artifact. Questions should be read to the candidates by a machine. I think the voice of WOPR from War Games would do nicely.
If we must have moderators, let each side pick two. The Right could have Hannity and Limbaugh, and the Left could have, I dunno, Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann (or lets face it, anyone from CBS, NBC, ABC, or PBS.)
If we’re going to have bias, lets make it interesting.
What Sarah Palin tells us about Obama
Obama has looked amazingly uncomfortable under the pressure that Palin has put him under. He relies on his cool – it is a core part of his appeal. So he looks bad when he loses it. During the Hillary contest he rarely came under any pressure from the media. When he did he reacted badly.
So the problem caused by Palin isn’t really about Palin – it’s about Obama. – Times Online
I agree. Also, a great article (yes I said that) by famed and self described “dissident feminist”, Camille Paglia.
Now that’s the Sarah Palin brand of can-do, no-excuses, moose-hunting feminism — a world away from the whining, sniping, wearily ironic mode of the establishment feminism represented by Gloria Steinem, a Hillary Clinton supporter whose shameless Democratic partisanship over the past four decades has severely limited American feminism and not allowed it to become the big tent it can and should be. Sarah Palin, if her reputation survives the punishing next two months, may be breaking down those barriers. Feminism, which should be about equal rights and equal opportunity, should not be a closed club requiring an ideological litmus test for membership.
It’s all fantastic – even the loony bits. Read it all here at Salon.com.
Palin? (!)
Rumblings this morning are that McCain will select Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

I hope so. What a breath of fresh air this would be. I’ve been supportive of this idea since I heard her name floated 6 months or so ago. Young, attractive, mother of 5, pro-life, pro-gun, with an approval rating north of 80%. What’s not to like?
Anyone else would be more of the old, stodgy, politics as usual.
This is getting interesting.
Update – Not interested in Tom Ridge. Less interested in Meg Whitman, although she does have an edge as a political outsider.
Update2 – Everyone’s confirming…it’s Palin! Very cool.
Biden?
Kind of have to laugh a bit about the Joe Biden selection as Obama’s running mate.
I mean really. (Youtube video)
Part of me sort of wants Obama to win. Of course it’s the petty part that is sick of listening to the 8 years of liberal whining.
It also would probably put one-note “talent” like Olbermann and Stewart out of business. They’ve made their careers by ripping Bush. Without him as a foil, they’ve got nothing left.
RIP Tim Russert

Just heard bout this during my layover in LA. Too bad, he was a quality newsman.

Or, “Good news is no news.” (Article from the UK Times.)
Success in Iraq is a big problem for the Democrats. For the rest of us, the last few months have been encouraging. I hope it continues.
