Led Zeppelin is back…
“The excitement in the hall felt extreme, and genuine; the crowd roars between encores were ravenous.” – From the NY Times: Led Zeppelin Finds Its Old Power
Youtube videos of some of the songs played:
Stairway to Heaven
Black Dog
Good Times Bad Times
Since I’ve Been Lovin’ You
No Quarter
Ramble on
The Song Remains The Same
and video slideshow of photos from the concert.
I’d have LOVED to have been there. I hope they tour!
Last Five Songs
Cruft tagged me with an interweb meme. Naturally, I must respond. Unlike Michael P I buy songs on iTunes all the time, so this one was easy.
Wikipedia entry for band/Youtube video version of the song
Pixies – Debaser
Pixies – Tame
Rolling Stones – Dance, Pt. 1
Daft Punk – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
White Stripes – Icky Thump (Album)
DRM’s Death
I’m not sure why they’re leaving DRM on the low-quality versions. The way it SHOULD work is there should be no DRM on anything, and if you want higher quality recordings, you can pay the higher cost. Jobs completely dodged this question, but it’s a start. I have a hunch that this is a trial balloon. The 2 tiered DRM/Non-DRM is the only way EMI would buy in.
The other possibility of course is that Apple wanted to retain the lower cost DRM’ed songs to continue the “lock-in” they have with their players. Something isn’t quite right about this deal, but I can’t put my finger on it.
Nooooooooooooooo!
Sleater-Kinney breaking up…
I own every album they’ve ever made. Sad to see the end of this band, but they had a great run.

The essential guide to electronic music…
I’ve had this link in my bookmarks for ages now, and I don’t know why I’ve never gotten around to posting it. Check out Ishkur’s Guide to Electronic Music. Wait a bit for the interface to load, then explore.
Some of it will bring back memories (particularly the house/synthpop section) and other sections will simply blow your mind. For a laugh, check out track three under downtempo/sound collage.
I’ve literally spent hours at this site.
Last 10
While I’m making lists, here are the last 5 songs I purchased on iTunes:
- Feel Good Inc – Gorillaz
- Jumpers – Sleater-Kinney
- Where is My Mind? – Pixies
- Us – Regina Spektor
- When the Levee Breaks (Live) – Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation
Also, check this out. Heard it on Imus this morning, and I find it amusing for some reason.
Hick-hop. Heh.
