Superbowl

That Giants/Packers game was tremendous…one of the best games I’ve seen in a long time. I blew the prediction, obviously, as I thought that the Packers would stand up on their home field. Give the Giants credit, they’ve been road warriors all year.

I thought their coach, Tom Coughlin, was going to lose part of his face due to frostbite. Seriously, it was turning purple out there.

So it’s Patriots/Giants in the big game. I have to root for the Giants. Much as I loathe them (and most of their fans) they’re a cut above the New England Patriots. The Patriot’s robotic march to perfection has been well documented, and it irritates the hell out of me. If I never see Tom Brady’s face again, I’ll be abundantly happy.

Back on the Seahawk’s front, we should learn the fate of legendary coach Mike Holmgren today. Will he retire or will he gut it out for another year? I’m betting on retirement. He was hinting at it for weeks leading up to the playoffs, and I think he’s had enough.

This probably means that the Jim Mora Jr. era is forthcoming.

You can root for the Giants, or you can root for the winners. I can admit that the Pats seem a little ‘robotic’, but they’re a disciplined team. Indy has that same feel, too. And if I never see Peyton’s gynormous, misshapen melon on another commercial, it’ll be too soon. Go Pats !

Holmy back for one more year. Another blown prediction! :)

That’s life. It also means a lame-duck season out of Holmgren. Love the guy, but not thrilled with this setup.

I don’t think it will be that bad. Team has a lot of talent. You guys are poised for another good run next year. Just sign a new RB and you’ll be all set.

I don’t think it’s a big deal Holmgren is a lame duck. He sounds fired up to take one more good shot. Think of it this way: if he had nothing left, why would he come back to finish his contract? He doesn’t need the money, fame, recognition or anything else. There’s only one reason to come back – to make one more big push. And that’ll be good for the Seahawks.

As far as the Patriots go, I guess I understand “backlash”, but it’s hard to see how football fans wouldn’t get excited to watch history being made right before our very eyes. Your kids and grandkids will think it’s cool you were around to see it, so think of it that way if it helps. :-)

(I’m not “rooting” for either team, but if the Pats win, which I think they will, I’ll be fine with that and will be happy to have seen a team go 19-0, which is a truly remarkable accomplishment.)
