Worst Keynote Ever?

Posted on 11 June 2007

Well that’s a bit harsh perhaps, but that seems to be the general feeling around the Mac universe. Several neat Leopard features were shown, but really the meatier stuff (like Time Machine) we’ve seen before.

No new hardware. No new .Mac. No new iLife tools. No new iPods. Nothing about Apple TV.

I rate this a letdown. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled and now come to expect too much out of these things. They took the Apple store down (usually a precursor for all kinds of new and exciting goodies) but this time all that came of it was a new site design.

Meh.

I loved it. :) The new Finder looks gorgeous. Perhaps you are spoiled – they are focusing all their effort on iPhone and Leopard, so I imagine it’d be kind of tough to also be rolling out a new line of computers or iPods or what-have-you.

Anyway, I’m a newbie convert, so what do I know? Except that I’m really looking forward to getting a Mac now. ;)

Oh don’t get me wrong…what they showed is great..it’s just that us “long timers” have seen much of it before. The finder is new and cool but it just isn’t the same as pretty new hardware.

Everyone is so used to “Just one more thing…” that when there isn’t anything big it’s taken as a let down.

My next “big computer” upgrade will probably be a Mac. Probably a good year or so away at this point though. Need to start saving. :)
